The Wearables Lab at Hong Kong Baptist University presents Haptic InterFace 2012

The research hub at the Academy of Visual Arts at Hong Kong Baptist University – the Wearables Lab – is pleased to announce Haptic InterFace 2012: a new challenge for designers, artists, scientists, developers and creative thinkers who want to come to face to face with the unexpected and innovative ideas. Haptic InterFace consists of a ten-day workshop and an exhibition that will be running in parallel to this event.

The Haptic InterFace workshop will take place from 10 – 20 November in the Wearables Lab. During ten intensive days new body-related concepts through the creative use of materials and practice will be explored. The aim is to provide a forum where professionals and creative thinkers from a wide range of backgrounds explore the boundaries between art, science and technology.

This is a participant-driven workshop where you will be encouraged to collaborate, thrash out ideas for materials and technology, and find ways to generate innovation in real-time. A team of experts and support staff will be on hand to assist you. The lab is equipped with state of the art technology, and depending on your research area, you can draw on specific equipment available from the broad range of creative studios at the Academy of Visual Arts in order to support your creative investigations.

The workshop will run in conjunction with the Haptic InterFace Exhibition to be held from 19 November to 20 December at the Koo Ming Kown Exhibition Gallery, Hong Kong. It will feature art/design/multi-media work in the form of body-related works from leading artists and designers around the world. Concepts/prototypes developed in the Wearables Lab will be added to the core exhibition at the end of the workshop.

WT is delighted to support this event as a media partner. For more details, please visit the Haptic Interface website.
