Baselworld 2015 has finally begun! We highly anticipated this event since we already suspected to see a lot of wearable tech influences this year.
But first, let’s take a look at new partnership deals announced in Basel.
MMT announced the Swiss Horological Smartwatch and joined forces with traditional watch makers Frederique Constant, Alpina, Mondaine that all now include Motion X technology in their new smartwatch models. Special about these watches is that they will stay true to the traditional Swiss design and combine old with the new. They will have more than two years of battery life, an activity and sleep tracking system, a cloud system and much more. 10 different designs will be launched for men and women in 2015.
Gucci announced a collaboration with will.i.am. The singer likes to use the term “fashionology” when describing the future device. He promises a timepiece that is both fashionable and techy that will allow you to make calls, write emails – just like your own personal assistant. Details about this timepiece are still under the wraps but we promise to keep you posted.
And here is the answer to the Apple watch: An exciting collaboration was made between TAG Heuer, Google and Intel. Although we don’t know much about this timepiece yet but it is said that Google will offer the Android Wear Platform, it will be powered by Intel and the design will be entirely Swiss.
Another timeless piece out there is developed by a company Vector. Both Vector Meridian and Vector Luna are waterproof smartwatches. The company claims the battery lasts a whole month on a single charge. Besides providing the basics functionalities like changing time zones and countdown, the watch also counts steps, calories and so much more. It is compatible with iOS, Android, and Windows smartphones
B55 Connected is Breitling’s first smartwatch that features a digital and analog display with a few other tech tricks. The device can be connected with an app on your smartphone that allows you to perform various adjustments on the watch. You can change time zones, change displays and it also allows you to use numerous functions especially interesting for their pilot target group like countdown and count up system. It also memorizes the take-off time, landing time, and the date just to name a few other features.
Kenneth Cole released the Connect which is a smartwatch with a white rubber-sprayed case with rose gold accents. It features a positive display dial and Bluetooth technology.
Kairo’s new smartwatch is called MSW115 and is a fully-functioning analogue watch that features a secondary see-through screen within the same casing which allows displaying graphic notifications and other data. It allows the remote control of your smartphone or tablet PC. You can also send pre-set text massages while you are driving or count your steps with the fitness tracker included.
We haven’t spotted any interesting smart jewelry yet at Baselworld 2015 but will keep you posted if we will. But I guess you will have to wait until next month to see what’s new in tech jewels when we will take a deep dive into fashion and accessories at our WT | Wearable Technologies Conference in the home of fashion Milan on April 29.
