Nowadays, mobile phone is one of our main ways to communicate. However, have you ever found that a mobile phone is sometime quite inconvenient? When you are out for jogging and you don’t know where to place your phone, but you don’t want to miss any important calls or you want to make a phone call as well. Therefore, what do you think if we have wearable phones which can replace your mobile?
The Portal is a smartphone designed for active individuals and on-the-go professionals who are frustrated with bulky, cluttered, non-durable phone that constantly get in the way of dynamic lifestyles. Portal is the combination of the advanced technology of a smartphone with the convenience and mobility of a wearable. It can be worn on either forearm and features no ports or cord connectivity, freeing your hands and pockets. Besides the handheld phone when you need, the Portal also offers a wearable device for you. No longer will you need to carry and connect a smartwatch, fitness tracker and smartphone all at once.
In June 2016 Lenovo also brought new concept smartphone using a flexible screen and segmented body to deftly convert from watchband to handset and back again. It’s officially known as CPlus. It’s a 4.26-inch flexible display, runs the Android operating system. It’s is not in production yet. However, it will come soon in a variety of 12 different colours.
The FiLIP is also a wearable phone but it’s only for kids. It allows kids to make and receive calls. With the FiLIP app, parents get to choose the five phone numbers that the child can call and receive from. The child can scroll through those five trusted contacts and call the one with the touch of a button.
There are also various wearables on the market which allows users to make a call with their rings or wearables devices such as Gear S or Asus Zen watch. However a wearable device or a wearable phone that can totally replace our mobile phone is still in development. It is to say that wearables equipped with our smartphones are now more well-supported to our live. These products above are really close to the idea. Nevertheless, someday soon wearable devices might be devices that work completely on their own without a phone or even replace the phone. How about you?
