The Sport Sciences and Medicine (SS&M) of the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) will start using Masimo MightySat fingertip pulse oximeters to provide comprehensive care to professional women tennis players.
“We have been encouraged by the feedback we have received from elite athletes and trainers about how MightySat helps them improve their health and performance. For example, they use Masimo’s unique accuracy to decide on how hard to train,” said Joe Kiani, Founder and CEO of Masimo. “We are excited to work with the WTA to help them use Masimo’s breakthrough noninvasive technologies to make a meaningful difference in women’s tennis. We have long been big fans of the sport and are excited to help these peak performing athletes reach even greater heights.”
The MightySat is a fingertip pulse oximeter designed for health applications including fitness, sports, and relaxation management. The device provides noninvasive measurements of oxygen saturation, pulse rate, perfusion index, PVi and RRp (respiration rate based on the plethysmographic waveform) and displays them in real time. Users can also track their data through the Masimo Personal Health app for Android and iOS compatible devices.

The device will be used at WTA tournament events by the WTA SS&M team’s primary healthcare providers to support health and fitness of elite women’s tennis players.
“We’re fortunate to have this new technology in the training room and on the court at the WTA. This equipment will aid our PHCPs in assessing player health and allow them to better service the immediate needs of our athletes,” said Kathleen Stroia, SVP SS&M and Transitions for the WTA.
Masimo founder and CEO Joe Kiani said that his organization is encouraged by the feedback they’ve received from elite athletes about how the device help them enhance their health and performance. The athletes, he said, are helped by Masimo’s unique accuracy telling them how hard to train.
