WELT, a Korean digital healthcare company, won the CES 2020 Innovation Awards for its new product, Smart Belt Pro.
An updated version of a previous model, the Smart Belt Pro features the first ever fall prevention function in a belt. Other features include waist measurement, sitting time measurement, monitoring for overeating and step counting.

Unlike the fall detection feature on Apple Watch, which detects a fall only after it has occurred, the WELT smart belt works to prevent such a fall, reports Business Wire.
The Smart Belt Pro uses the stable signals provided by the sensor located at the center of the body to detect patterns in small steps that wrist-based wearables aren’t able to pinpoint.
The belt can detect a fall in advance and prevent it by analyzing irregularities in the user’s walking pattern.
The Smart Belt Pro has achieved many improvements compared to the previous version in terms of the belt’s quality, proving itself worthy of the name “Pro.”
