Major League Rugby Partners with Catapult to Improve Player Training and Performance

Major League Rugby (MLR) has formed a partnership with the global leader in sports technology, Catapult, to improve the training and performance metrics for the entire league. All 12 MLR teams will be equipped with Catapult’s wearable technology to track and improve their performance in training and games.

Catapult is a sports analytics, technology, and performance company that provides products to over 2970 teams spread across 39 sports in 137 different countries.

“I’m pleased to be partnering with Catapult once again to utilize their top of the line sports technology capabilities,” said MLR commissioner George Killebrew, who used the company’s technology while working for the National Basketball Association’s Dallas Mavericks. “I know the difference that their products can make for professional athletes and I feel this partnership is crucial for continued development of our athlete’s training, and our league analytics.”

Catapult’s wearable technology is aimed at enhancing monitoring of athlete development. Catapult’s groundbreaking technology is designed to reduce athlete injuries and optimize the rehabilitation process, which will prove to be crucial across the MLR 17-week regular season that kicks off February 8, reports Major League Rugby.

Catapult has also signed a deal with Colombia’s Primera A and B Leagues to track players with catapult wearables.

Major League Rugby is a professional rugby league that is entering its third season (2020) and represents the highest level of competition in North America. The league evolved from 7 teams in 2018 to 12 teams in 2020, featuring 11 from the United States and one from Canada distributed across an Eastern and Western Conference.
