About Shark Tank
Filmed at Fox Studios Australia, Shark Tank is an Australian reality competition television series that premiered 8 February 2015, on Network Ten.
The show features aspiring entrepreneur-contestants make business presentations to a panel of investors. The investors are known as the “sharks,” who listen to entrepreneurs pitch ideas for a business product they wish to develop. Although these “sharks” receive money for their participation, they invest their own money. These self-made multi-millionaires listen carefully to the business concepts and products pitched and then make a decision on whether to invest their own money to help market and mentor each contestant.

There is a chance if one of the sharks is interested, a deal can be made right there on the show. But, if all of the sharks decline, the contestant leaves with nothing. The show has been described as demonstrating “the drama of pitch meetings and the interaction between the entrepreneurs and tycoons.”
A 2018 investigation by Fairfax Media revealed that, in 2017, 50 products resulted in 27 deals, however, only four investments actually went ahead.
