In a bid to solve one of the nagging problems of using over-the-ear headphones, HP has produced a new headset that cools your ears. If you’ve used such a headphone, you know that it becomes intolerably hot after hours of use and some materials cause your ears to become sweaty. HP’s new headset comes with an active cooling solution that keeps your ears cool.

For gamers, problem of sweating in the ear is a serious one; many die-hard gamers endure hours-long gaming session. Additionally, a headset is a necessity not just for the audio but also because of live voice chat. According to HP, around 46% of gamers do not prefer wearing headphones, so this active cooling system is a blessing for them.
Unlike other similar options, these headsets don’t use fans or cooling gels. There’s a “thermoelectric device inside the earcup that conducts heat from the acoustic chamber towards the outside,” explains HP. This can be controlled through the Omen Command Center software, so you ideally shouldn’t worry about your ears getting too frosty.
Besides keeping your ears cool, the Mindframe headset boasts a self-adjusting lightweight suspension headband that makes it feel lighter on your head, 3D audio with 7.1 virtual surround sound and DTS Headphone:X support, noise cancelling unidirectional headphone, RGB lighting (also software-controlled) and a USB 2.0 Type-A connector.
The Mindframe headset will be a part of the Omen gaming accessory series, which HP also announced. Omen 15 is a 15.6” gaming laptop. Unlike many of its predecessors, the Omen 15 actually boasts being portable and small. Although, at 5.56 pounds Omen 15 is way heavier than your average laptop, it has noticeably thinner screen bezels and a smaller footprint than its predecessor.
The Omen 15 is powered by Intel’s 8th gen i5 and i7 processors. It has up to 32GB of RAM, Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 graphics, and various storage options, including an HHD, SSD, a combination of the two, or even an HDD enhanced with Intel’s Optane memory for faster performance. The 15.6-inch LCD screen has a variety of resolutions, including 1080p at 144Hz or 4K at 60Hz. And, for the sound, Bang & Olufsen-branded sound experience includes stereo speaker and a discrete audio amp.

HP says the new Omen 15’s cooling options are really great. There are larger fans and vents on the back, bottom and rear corners of the laptop.
The company, however has kept silence regarding the price tag of its Mindframe headset, but said it would be launching it in the upcoming months.
The Omen 15 laptop will be available on July 29, starting at $979.99.
