VivaLNK, leading provider of connected healthcare solutions for wellness, patient care, and telemedicine, has agreed to loan its Vital Scout devices to Stanford University for research on links between stress and depression. As part of the agreement, VivaLNK’s Vital Scout will be used to help quantify stress reactivity and recovery in order to explore links with teenage depression in study participants over continuous 24-hour periods. Stanford researchers in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences are studying whether there are longitudinal associations between stress and depression in teenagers.
VivaLNK’s portfolio includes wearable medical grade devices and data analytics applications that continuously monitor the health and well-being of individuals. The company’s vision is to improve the quality and accessibility of healthcare worldwide by combining technology, data, and analytics into an integrated solution.
We’ve all heard how stress can be bad for you; however, according to experts, stress isn’t always that bad. Experts say that stress is a burst of energy that primarily tells you what to do. Stress can have many advantages when it comes in small doses. But, prolonged periods of high stress can be harmful to your body.
Physical activity isn’t the only thing that matters to your health. Stress can also affect your breathing and sleeping patterns. The small things in our daily lives make a huge impact on our health. So, understanding the way your body works is the first step to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
To get a comprehensive view of stress and recovery levels, contributing factors need to be accounted for throughout the entire day, under varying conditions. Taking occasional snapshots or random measurements of stress levels can be misleading.
Vital Scout provides the information you need to be a healthier, happier you.
“Until recently, quantifying stress has been difficult,” said Jiang Li, CEO at VivaLNK. “Now with wearable sensors, quality data, and a better understanding of physiological impacts, we are able to provide a window into how daily activities affect our well-being in a quantifiable way.”
About Vital Scout
Vital Scout is a wearable patch about the size of a small bandage that you can wear comfortably and discreetly under your clothing on the chest. The patch uses ECG sensors and established heart rate variability (HRV) algorithms to quantifiably measure your body’s response to physiological impacts from various activities throughout the day. In addition to stress and recovery levels, Vital Scout also tracks activity, sleep quality, heart and respiratory rates. For more information on Vital Scout: www.vivalnk.com/vitalscout.
