Using the camera, anyone can instantly capture point-of-view (POV) 1080p high definition (HD) video without removing the paired smartphone from their pocket. The OPKIX One system consists of two cameras that allow users to capture two simultaneous perspectives. The accompanying egg-shaped case charges and immediately offloads video to a paired smartphone for storage and editing. Both cameras contain an OV798 video processor and an OV2732 image sensor from OmniVision, which enable high-resolution video capture in an ultra-compact package, says a Press Release.

“We started with a vision for a product that would change how the world captures, edits and socially shares videos quickly and simply. And we knew that our vision required innovation at all levels of product development,” said Lawrence Greaves, CEO at OPKIX. “We were relentless in our pursuit of the components that would allow us to create a product that would deliver uncompromising video quality for our users. We are pleased to have partnered with OmniVision and utilize their compact, ultra-low-power sensors and processors in our camera units to help us deliver on our vision.”

OmniVision’s senior Project Manager David Ho believes the OV798 processor is the perfect match for the OPKIX One because of its ultra-low power consumption and fast boot-up time for immediate on-demand recording. “Combining it with the compact OV2732 sensor is the best way to ensure high-quality video in all lighting environments. We are excited to help bring this groundbreaking product to market,” he said.

The OV798’s integrated image signal processor supports high-performance video recording at up to 1080p resolution. The processor’s low power consumption also enables up to 15 minutes of continuous video recording on a single battery charge. Both the OV798 and the OV2732 have wide operating temperature ranges, enabling outdoor operation year-round.

The OPKIX One is available now, with fashion-forward, wearable mounting options that include sunglasses, necklaces and rings.
