VitalConnect Introduces Vista Solution 2.0 to Improve Health Outcomes with Real-Time Patient

Vista Solution 2.0

VitalConnect, a Silicon Valley startup that develops wearable biosensor technology for wireless monitoring, launched Vista Solution 2.01, ushering in the next generation of healthcare where specific health outcomes can be detected through National Early Warning Scores (NEWS) at HIMSS19. NEWS is an internationally recognized standard used for initial assessments of acute illness and for continuous monitoring of a patient’s well-being throughout treatment.

Vista Solution 2.0 will include the addition of weight scale, blood pressure and pulse oximetry via 3rd party devices, and core temperature to the existing eight vital sign measurements monitored by the VitalPatch biosensor. The VitalPatch is the smallest and lightest Class II medical device cleared for use in both hospital and post-discharge home settings.

Regardless of the intensity of care, Vista Solution 2.0 will bring intelligent risk reduction for patients into the foreground. The integrated NEWS standard will enable Vista Solution 2.0 to advance a physician’s access to information about a patient’s condition around the clock with clinically proven predictive analytics built in, said a press release.

NEWS not only provides more data but also contextual information to help guide clinical decisions. NEWS implementation can be tailored for different disease states, helping to further individualize the monitoring and clinical decision making around each patient. Color-coded notifications provide both visual and numeric (0 to 20 scale) trigger levels to determine the urgency of clinical response.

Mercy Health System has worked with VitalConnect throughout the development of 2.0 and the solution will be implemented at customer sites later this month.

“Mercy Virtual is committed to transforming health care by creating new care models supported by telehealth teams and technology,” said Mark Saxon, Vice President of Clinical Operations for Mercy Virtual. “Vista Solution 2.0 will support us in this mission by providing our clinicians with unprecedented access to information for informed decision making on patient care, while also giving patients peace of mind that their condition is being monitored as closely as possible.”
