At the CES 2020, French digital health firm Withings unveiled multiple wearables, which include the company’s new smartwatch that can take ECG, detect sleep apnea and boasts an estimated 12 months of battery life.

Dubbed ScanWatch, the new smartwatch comes with a PPG sensor, which continuously monitors the wearer’s heart rate and alert them if there’s an irregularity. If the watch detects an irregular heartbeat, it prompts the user to take an ECG reading. The user is able to see the ECG results either on their watch screen or in the watch’s Health Mate app. Afterwards, you can print out a graph of your ECG to send to your doctor, or send it to them in PDF form.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is currently reviewing Withings’ ECG feature and the company expects clearance sometime in Q2, reports MobiHealthNews.
The SpO2 feature in the watch can measure oxygen saturation continuously and let you know if you’re experiencing any sleep apnea episodes. And like other sleep trackers, the ScanWatch will provide detailed sleep analysis like duration, depth regularity, and interruptions.
Sleep apnea is a serious sleep disorder that occurs when a person’s breathing is interrupted during sleep. People with this condition stop breathing repeatedly during their sleep, sometimes hundreds of times. Due to this, the brain and the rest of the body are deprived of enough oxygen. However, eight out of 10 people with this condition aren’t aware that they have, Withings said in a press material.
“Sleep is a huge factor of chronic disease that we want to help people prevent and monitor and it is really important,” Mathieu Letombe, CEO of Withings, told MobiHealthNews. “You spend 20 minutes at the physician but you spend six hours or eight in your bed.”

Finally, the whopping 30-days batter life is something that no other smartwatch can compete with today.
Withings said there will be two models of ScanWatch, a 38mm version will cost $249, while the 42mm model will set you back $299.
