Dear Wearable Technologies network,
2013 was a brilliant year for fans of wearable products. We observed several important milestones like Android being now Bluetooth Smart ready, Microsoft buying Nokia, Intel unveiling a chip specifically designed for wearable applications, Samsung selling their phones now with a smart companion product and Sony even launching the 2nd edition of their smartwatch, just to name a few. Not to forget about the ongoing smart glasses trend. We witnessed a new wave of interoperability like never before. I personally never want to be without my two favorites anymore: my smart watch and my phone.
Together with you, the Wearable Technologies network, I would like to explore ways to pass this enthusiasm for Wearable Technologies to even more people in the coming year. Lately the incredible possibilities of smart medical products have caught my special attention as have new user interfaces. Will we be able to use our bodies as a remote control in the near future? I am looking forward to share my vision with you and to drive convergence to the next level.
As a first event discussing these topics we will start the New Year with our Wearable Technologies Conference in Munich on January 27 and 28. Also, don’t forget to save the date: The conference will be back in San Francisco on July 7 and 8 as well as in Asia in September. Our excellent innovation competition Wearable Technologies Innovation World Cup also grows with every year and we are thrilled about the announcement of the winners in January during the conference. And there’s more to come in 2014!
I hope all of you enjoyed the holiday season and you received plenty of wearable gifts this year. I am looking forward to exchanging experiences with these products with you and meeting you at several networking events around the globe.
