With the arrival of autumn we say goodbye to another month. Here is another 30 days full of wearables and premieres that we will summarize for you to know what’s new in the wearable universe.
It is always conference season at WT | Wearable Technologies, so if you are looking for a comfy and warm place to hide from the upcoming winter temperatures make sure to not miss our upcoming events!. Next one is in Hong Kong on October 12 at the beautiful Renaissance Harbour View Hotel with a great line-up of speakers and partners like wearable certifier, TÜV SÜD, to offer the attendees a diverse conference and an innovation exhibition to try the latest gadgets!
Another warm place in September was our 17th WT | Wearable Technologies Conference in Canada– actually we were looking at an entire week of wearables again in the wearable crazy country. The week kicked off with a public event and exhibition plus runway show at Yonge Dundas Square in Toronto. Then our friend Tom Emrich held his infamous WeAreWearables Meetup and then the week concluded with our conference . In case you missed it you can read our live report here!.
And what else was happening this September?
Jaguar launched a new car, the Jaguar F-Pace. The vehicle is combined with a wearable Activity Key. This key is a waterproof wristband that allows you to indulge in outdoor physical activities without worrying about carrying your keys! The days of double checking before closing the door of your car to make sure that your keys are not inside are over! So your keys can stay in the car, and the Activity Key around your wrist. Allowing you to lock and unlock the car. Go surfing, cycle or run and explore the world without worrying about the keys falling out or jingling in your pocket.
Another event that took place in September was IFA, a consumer electronics trade show happening in Berlin on Sept. 4 until 9. The highlights this year were Smartwatches. Samsung, Huawei, Motorola were some of the companies were unveiling their latest editions of smart watches. To learn more about these read our recent latest recap!
And also in Berlin, our partners from Wear IT hosted an event for 3 days, dedicated to wearables in health, science, fashion and materials. The event gathered the best talents working in fashion tech under one roof. Displaying LED dresses and music + visuals while wearing the MYO from Thalmic Labs. Endless possibilities!
More news coming from Blackberry who is now teaming up with an Android! The new joint activity will be called the PRIV. It will be the solution for smartphone users who are experiencing the lack of privacy they have on their current devices. Blackberry is collaborating with Google to bring the best of BlackBerry security and productivity to the Android ecosystem.
The New York Fashion week was also in September; a crowd of fashionistas sat and watched models on a runway in responsive dresses and sports bras made out of 3-D printed panels armed with tiny computer modules that sense and respond to a person’s body. The smart clothing brand Chromat, in concert with Intel worked to develop dresses and sports bras that integrate Intel’s Curie module — a tiny piece of hardware featuring a battery, motion sensors, and wireless connectivity. The Chromat Aeros Sports Bra uses Curie sensors to gauge your heat level, and the bra will open vents and cool the body down. The dress uses the Curie modules to sense adrenaline and stress levels, so if stress levels are high, the dress will expand into an imposing shape.
